“Our group of thirteen students and two chaperones had the experience of a lifetime in Nepal with Matt and Nima’s crew at Mountain Quests. A few things on our itinerary included whitewater rafting, a service project, bike riding, a safari, time to explore Kathmandu, traditional Nepalese food and dance, and a visit to an incredible stupa.

Most of our time was spent in the Chitwan district working to build an in-ground Bio-gas chamber that provides one family with gas for cooking for around forty years and we had the opportunity to hear the family’s story and ask questions of them about life in Nepal. The manual labor was exhausting but wonderful and it was amazing to see the students’ encouragement for one another grow as the week progressed.

Throughout our trip, we were exposed to Nepalese culture and their gracious hospitality. I was so encouraged listening to students comment on how kind and joyful everyone was, despite the obvious lack of material wealth for many, and then reflect on how they would strive towards that same joy and kindness.

I have always thought of Nepal as being only a mountainous region and was shocked by the amount of lowlands and jungle in the country. This made our safari by canoe and jeep through the Chitwan National Park a surprise and a big highlight for me. We were able to see monkeys, rhinos, crocodiles, boar, elephants and more at an extremely short distance and were also educated by a park ranger on each animal seen.

This trip was perfect. It provided such a wide variety of experiences and emotions for all of us, and in the end left me wanting to return as soon as possible. I have complete confidence that anything organized by Mountain Quests will be well thought out, organized and impactful.”

“The team at Mountain Quests were extremely reliable and supportive when it came to planning our student trip to Nepal. From the beginning it is clear that their projects have been well developed with sustainability and the cultural and social context in mind. Students and teachers who have been on Mountain Quests trips with our school in the past remember an authentic experience that combines hard but satisfying work with learning and outdoor adventure. 2019 was my first time coordinating this trip for our students and chaperones and Mountain Quests absolutely lived up to their reputation. Organizing the logistics from flights, insurance, and visas to student and parent presentations was straightforward with consistent support at every step of the way. I was responsible for 4 overseas trips running simultaneously with different providers and the trip to Nepal with Mountain Quests was the most successful across the board. The personal support from Matt Farr, the managing director, is highly reassuring and goes above and beyond what other larger organizations are able to offer. I look forward to my next opportunity to plan a trip with them knowing that it will be smooth for me as the coordinator and full of fun and learning for my students.”

"I have taken service trips with students for the past 20 years and have never encountered an organization so thoughtful, organized, and rooted in sustainable development. We took students to a small village in Nepal where they helped female masons construct a biogas digester. Even though our children are unskilled, they were able to pass bricks, rocks, and cement in a village deplete of able bodied men as most are working in Gulf countries as security guards and construction workers. Mountain Quest takes great pride in creating authentic trips. The service work, interacting with village locals, and cultural aspects progress seamlessly throughout the day. In addition, the staff become part of the trip "family" within a matter of hours, they are so loved. Mountain Quest is one of the few service providers that I would wholeheartedly recommend."

“We traveled with Mountain Quests to Nepal to trek to Everest Base Camp. The adventure was incredible! The trek can be tough at times, but when you reach base camp, and Kala Patthar, all the effort suddenly becomes worth it. The sense of achievement becomes real when you watch sunrise over the Himalayas and that feeling will live with us for years to come. The trek was organized perfectly by Matt, Ryan, Nima and the team at Mountain Quests. We were taken care of well before the trip started, with advice on gear, weather, what to expect and how to train, and once in Nepal their guides and porters took expert care of us throughout. We highly recommend this trip and urge people who are considering Everest Base Camp to take the plunge and do it!”

“I went to Nepal first week of April 2016 with Mountain Quests. They organised every single part of the trip for me and my partner, starting at the pick up in Kathmandu, where Nima took care of us all the time, he showed us where to go shopping, where to eat and where to relax! I would have never expected such an amazing welcome. It was my first trip to Nepal and first time hiking a mountain for 7 days! We did Mardi Himal Base Camp and we loved every bit of it. It was a quiet route, full of forest and amazing views of the Himalayas. It was just magical! The weather was fantastic, only cold at night (make sure you take a hot water bottle with you to bed, that helped me a lot). If you are looking for a route away from the busy areas and the more popular trekking regions, I truly recommend Mardi Himal. I got hooked with hiking after this trip, so I am already planning with Mountain Quests where to go next!”

“I’ve been to Nepal twice, the first time was only 4 days and was just for sightseeing, which really made me think that this duration was way too short to experience what Nepal had to offer. I went back a few months after with MQ and a group of 9 people and we did ABC and it has changed my life! I’m a photographer, and yet I did not post a single photo from the trip because they did not do justice to being there. There’s something about being face to face with nature for a while that helps restore your inner peace with yourself. As far as MQ goes, they took care of everything from the second we landed, until we left. We were picked up at the airport, all the hotels were sorted, and activities. We had a blast with the sherpas, they were extremely helpful and patient, took the time to show us their traditions and teach us their language. I cannot recommend it highly enough!”

“I would like to state that the arrangements that are listed on the above website for the entire trip were were followed or rather fulfilled to the maximum levels of my expectations especially the food delivered to us during the trek was the best in the available circumstances. Nima the rep in Kathmandu was the most nice person one could meet especially the beautiful parting gifts he gave us. Dawa Pemba and Tsangay the trek guides were awesome people too . Mountain Quests has a strong and dedicated team in place and i would recommend all to avail their services as it was once in a lifetime experience see u guys until next time.”
