Overview

During your 8 days in Nepal you will learn all about professional photography, being guided by professional photography instructors with many years of experience. On each day of your trip you will have the opportunity to learn different techniques and different shooting styles, in addition to how to edit your images to create the perfect final photo.

The trip will start in Kathmandu; a portrait and street photographer’s paradise, before heading to Pokhara, where you will learn how to create stunning landscape images of mountains, as well as action shots of adventure sports.

Towards the end of the week you’ll have the opportunity to put all your newly-learned skills to the test, with a photo-shoot of Nepal’s famous Sadhus (holy men). Not only this, but you will present your favourite edited and printed images to the monks of Kopan monastery, who you photographed earlier on in your trip.

This trip will challenge the novice through to the seasoned photographer, and students will come back with professional images they can display at their very own exhibition at the school.

Heath and Safety

Access to quality medical care will vary depending on our location. In Kathmandu and Pokhara hospitals are easily accessible and the ones we use are comparable to international, Western, standards.

Along the trek access to medical facilities is limited. For small problems such as blisters, mild sprains and strains, scratches and bruises, our professional trained guides can assist. For more serious issues that required hospital treatment, we would need to call for transport in the form of jeep or helicopter evacuation to the CIWEC Clinic in Pokhara. We have excellent links to multiple helicopter companies to arrange efficient evacuation should the need arise. It is important that students are covered with the correct insurance to deal with this. That said, this is a highly unlikely scenario on this trip.

All of our guides are first aid trained, and your head guide is trained in wilderness first aid by the American Red Cross. We have with us at all times a full and well-equipped medical kit.

Students are required to provide us information on dietary requirements, allergies and their health and travel insurance before departure. All allergies and dietary requirements can be taken into consideration and managed.

Pre Trip Activities

In order for the participating students to get as much experience, knowledge and enjoyment from the trip to Nepal as possible, Mountain Quests will prepare the students before the departure in a seminar. The preparatory seminar sessions can be arranged at the school or online. The seminar will include subjects such as cultural sensitivities, gear required for the trip, health and safety and other topics specifically related to photography in Nepal. A parent information session can also be arranged.
